Police Officer Trevor Howard was killed in a vehicle crash at approximately 2:50 a.m. at the intersection of Broadway and Nathan streets in Marked Tree.
Officer Howard, positioned in the passenger seat, was on patrol with another officer when their patrol truck collided with a vehicle that failed to stop at a stop sign. The impact of the crash, predominantly on the passenger side of the patrol vehicle, caused the truck to overturn. Officer Howard succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The other officer was transported to NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jonesboro with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the other vehicle was airlifted to Regional One Health in Memphis in serious condition.
Officer Howard had worked with the Marked Tree Police Department for nearly two months.
