Police Officer Zade Abdelnabi was shot and killed responding to a call regarding an armed subject at the 4500 block of East Tropicana Avenue in Las Vegas.

Before 4:00 p.m., Officer Abdelnabi and other officers went to investigate reports of an armed man at a local business. When they found the man walking on the street, waving his gun, they were met with gunfire, and shots were exchanged. Officer Abdelnabi was struck eight times as he exited his patrol vehicle and never fired his weapon.

Officer Abdelnabi was transported to University Medical Center, where he succumbed to his wounds.

The suspect died at the scene; he was struck by a gunshot to the chest and a self-inflicted shot to the head.

Officer Abdelnabi was a United States Marine Corps veteran and had served with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department for over two years. Survivors include his wife, parents, two brothers, and a sister.
