Deputy Sheriff Terrian Bailey was shot and killed while responding to a disturbance call near a local convenience store off Highway 18, near Hermanville, shortly after midnight.

Deputy Bailey was working to disperse a crowd that had gathered after a festival when shots were fired. He and a civilian bystander were struck. Both Deputy Bailey and the civilian were taken to a nearby hospital.

Deputy Bailey succumbed to his wounds later that morning.

Twelve individuals, ages ranging from 18 to 24 years old, were arrested and charged with first-degree murder, aggravated assault, and conspiracy to commit murder.

Deputy Bailey had served with the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Department for six years. Survivors include his wife and four children.
