Mission to Protect
The Gallagher’s Heroes: Fallen Officer Fund, based in Dallas, was founded by Mike Gallagher and inspired by the giving spirit of his late wife, Denise Gallagher, to meet the immediate needs of U.S. police officer families when an officer has been killed in the line of duty. The fund provides financial assistance to officer families when they need it most, as soon as a tragedy happens, without having to wait for weeks or months for other more formal assistance to become available, and without the hassle of bureaucracy and red tape that often exists.
Why We Serve
As a national radio personality with a loyal audience, Gallagher’s Heroes was initially an outgrowth of Mike Gallagher’s desire to help others, and it was quickly supported by his nearly 7 million weekly listeners. In early 2004, Gallagher received a call on his radio show to help military families. Having long been a supporter of charitable causes, Gallagher was moved by the situation and put out a call for help to his listeners. They came through quickly and in a big way and proceeded to fill tractor-trailer loads of food and gift items through a partnership with Feed the Children of Oklahoma City, Okla. Gallagher knew he had uncovered something special and founded Gallaghers Heroes: The Mike Gallagher Show Charitable Foundation shortly after.
In 2008, when his wife, Denise, passed away after a year-long battle with endometrial cancer, another motivational and well-timed call from an Indiana listener, prompted Gallagher to reinvigorate the fund in her memory. When this Indiana caller told Gallagher her story about a fallen police officer and not having access to immediate funds for the funeral and more, Gallagher felt compelled to rally the troops and decided to refocus his charitable organization specifically to help fallen police officer families. The original philanthropic effort has now evolved into Gallagher’s Heroes: Fallen Officer Fund, and is targeted at providing immediate financial assistance to family members of those who have fallen in the line of duty.

Providing contributions to help protect the families of those who protect Americans on a daily basis is a contribution we can all feel proud of.
