Home Confinement Officer Michael Sillman suffered a fatal heart attack while assisting other deputies with a warrant service on a wanted fugitive at a house on William Smith Road.
The deputies parked out of sight from the home and were walking through rugged terrain to reach the house when Officer Sillman suddenly collapsed. Other deputies immediately began CPR but were unable to revive him.
Officer Sillman had served with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office for four years and was also the active serving police chief of the Grant Town Police Department. He is survived by his wife, who also serves as a law enforcement officer.
